Ascension Health Information Systems.

integrated pediatric health care delivery systems. Based
in Fort Worth, Texas, the non-profit organization
includes a nationally recognized Medical Center,
Physician Network, Home Health Company, Health Plan,
Health Foundation and Health Care System.
Joan Hicks
is Chief Information Officer at the University of
Alabama Health System. She began her career in health
information management and received a graduate degree in
Health Informatics in 1994.
As CIO Joan is
responsible for Health System Information Services which
provide IT services for the University Hospital (a 900+
bed acute care facility), UAB Highlands Hospital,
Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital, The Kirklin Clinic and
Health Centers and Health Information Management for
University Hospital and UAB Highlands Hospital.
UAB is the largest
academic medical center in Alabama and one of the top

States. UAB’s Cardiovascular Center is nationally
